I didn’t grow up as the sporty or adventurous type. I was far more at home in orchestra rehearsals and science labs than extreme sports. So discovering skydiving felt like a completely unexpected plot twist - one that very loudly rewrote the direction of my life.
What started as a hobby while I was studying took a complete turn. Straight after finishing my PhD, I packed up my car and drove to Portugal, with no real plan other than I wanted to skydive. That decision led me into seven years of living and breathing the sport, to eventually becoming a tandem and AFF instructor. I spent three incredible years out in Dubai, and eventually was lucky enough to travel the world coaching and load organising.
It’s not just the beautiful places or incredible memories that stand out - it’s mostly the people. The mentors who gave their time, the friends who became family, and the community that makes this sport what it is. Being part of the Joyriders team is something I don’t take lightly; I’m constantly inspired by the energy, support, and passion around me.
For me, it’s about passing that on. Sharing what I’ve learned, staying open to learning more, and creating spaces where others can fall in love with this sport in their own way. Because at its core, it’s not just about flying. It’s about connection, growth, and a whole lot of joy.
